Mixed Media Artist
Living in rural Staffordshire, I paint from my studio at home. I am an intuitive artist - I choose the colours, I think about the technique and medium I want to use, and start to create. Some of my work is controlled with a detailed approach and then other works I allow full spontaneity to enjoy the freedom of flow and mix. I'm just as at home creating vivid, bold, statement pieces as I am painting delicate, neutral, muted artwork.
I adore colour, combining different textures, creating an artwork that each time you look at it, the piece gives you as much pleasure as it did me creating it!
I work on many types of substrates, including canvas, acrylic/wooden panels and specialist papers.
I use a variety of mediums, but I have developed a passion for a relatively new medium in the Artworld - Alcohol Inks. The versatility, fluidity, transparency and vibrancy they give are simply stunning. Like nature's art, every Alcohol Ink piece has a unique life of its own. I pour the inks onto the substrate and allow them to flow and mingle organically, manipulating them with air, gravity, brushwork or any tool to create the particular effect I'm looking for - it's always so exciting to watch each piece evolve and come to life!
I constantly try new techniques, and am inspired and totally addicted to the challenge this medium presents!
When accepting commissions, it's extremely important to me to liaise closely with the client on colour schemes and composition, taking great care to work with their home decor to create the perfect 'Piece'. I will always request when possible for images to be sent to me so that I can envisage the piece where it will be hung. The image is a recent Triptych commission undertaken to celebrate a Wedding Anniversary
